GDAACC Accomplishments

The Chamber has come a long way since it was established in 1986 as a non-profit organization promoting Asian American interests in this great cosmopolitan Metroplex. Since that time, our membership has grown with the support and encouragement of leading businesses, corporations and individuals.

We offer a number of programs that are specifically designed to nurture leaders from within our community, promote businesses and create a multicultural awareness among all citizens.

Our Chamber partners with the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau and Asian American organizations to bring conventions and to promote tourism from Asia to Dallas. We also partner with the Dallas Independent School District to promote higher quality of education and representation of the Asian American community.

To strengthen the business climate for everyone in the metroplex, we have established the lines of communication with other business groups, such as the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce, North Dallas Chamber of Commerce and the North Texas Commission. To enhance business opportunities for minority communities, we have built strong alliances with other ethnic chambers, including: the Dallas Black Chamber, Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber, and American Indian Chamber.

We also work closely with the various local Asian American Chambers and community organizations to promote businesses among the Asian American business communities and explore import and export opportunity between North Texas and Asian countries.

In the year 2000, the Chamber established the Multi-Ethnic Education and Economic Development (MEED) Center in "Little Asia" of near East Dallas. The MEED center focuses on job training, entrepreneur development theory and business assistance for the growing population in the area.

In the year 2001, the Chamber introduced the Intermediary Lending Program to meet the needs of small businesses in the Asian community in the Metroplex. The Program is designed to help GDAACC's members with their short-term cash flow needs and relatively near-term capital requirements.

Each year brings new challenges and opportunities for growth and development for our members. This makes our original and primary purpose of promoting and developing Asian American businesses more important than ever, within the Metroplex, our nation and the world. Our mission does not stop here...

Our Chamber has grown to over 1,000 members with a staff of eight to serve the needs of the Asian American Community.
