Bank Commissioner Honors Asian American Graduates  

Dallas, Texas – The Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce (GDAACC), in partnership with the Multi-Ethnic Education and Economic Development Center, holds its 16th annual Excellence in Education Banquet on Thursday, June 26, 2008 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Intercontinental Dallas Hotel in Addison.  United Central Bank is the Signature Sponsor for the fourth consecutive year. Mr. Randall S. James, Commissioner of Texas Department of Banking, will deliver a keynote address at this event.

Excellence in Education Banquet

For the past 16 years, the GDAACC has recognized Asian American high school seniors in the metroplex for their outstanding academic achievements and community services. There are also special scholarship awards presented to two of the recipients:  the Jerry Junkins Memorial Award and the James Yoo Award.  The former, established in honor of the late Jerry Junkins, Past Chairman of Texas Instruments, Inc., recognizes the recipient’s contribution to the community. The latter, created in honor of James Yoo, the current Chairman of the Board of United Central Bank, honors the outstanding overall performance of the recipient. Dr. Wright Lassiter, Chancellor of Dallas County Community College District, will present scholarships to the students starting their college education at Dallas County Community College. Also at the event, 25 Asian American professionals will graduate from our leadership development program called Leadership Tomorrow.   

The following are this year’s Excellence in Education Award recipients: Joshua M. Adair, Wajiha Khan, Ashley J. Kim, Jaclyn H. Le, John J. Lee, Michael J. Lee, Tyler C. Liu, Jonash A. Loh, Stephanie O. Nguyen, Thu K. Nguyen, Joohyun Oh, Reena A. Patel, Angelo G. Ramirez, Waziha Samin, Najam A. Siddiqui, Sally Tam, Christopher T. Trinh, Aivy H. Truong, Khiem T. Vu, and Anthony L. Xie.
